Berlin didn't become the vegan capital by accident. Decades of squatter culture, leftist politics, and cheap rent created space for experimentation—and that spirit landed on the plate.
The scene skews casual. Cookies Cream is vegetarian with a Michelin star, but the soul lives in neighborhood spots—Vietnamese kitchens in Friedrichshain, falafel counters in Neukölln, bakeries that don't bother mentioning everything's vegan because of course it is.
Skip the tourist traps in Mitte. Head east. Expect hearty portions, zero pretense, and prices that let you eat out daily.
